Chloe

So these were questions to ask, but I wanted to answer all of them to remind myself of the good times that were had in 2012, all I can remember is the bad. Positive thinking.

1: What did you do in 2012 that you’d never done before?
A photo of me being in Vogue Australia, opened an online store, started thinking about my blog as a business, got addicted to vegetable juicing, turning clean lean and green, opened my mind to crystal therapy, tried shellfish for the first time and realised i do not like shellfish.

2: Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I actually never make New Years Resolutions, officically. I kind of think to myself some things I want to do over the coming 365 days, but I won’t beat myself up if they don’t happen. You can’t make a plan for life man!

3: Did anyone close to you give birth?
My cousin’s girlfriend over in the UK, and one of my closest friends from high school both gave birth.

4: Did anyone close to you die?
Nope. Thank god.

5: What countries did you visit?
I didn’t get to travel overseas this year unfortunately.

6: What would you like to have in 2013 that you lacked in 2012
Money, happiness, motivation.

7: What dates from 2012 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
To be honest, I have such a bad memory. There’s a couple of things that stick out, but when they happened is beyond me.

8: What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Completely overhauling my lifestyle to become clean lean and green. And furthermore, actually wanting to do it. Eating healthy, drinking more water, removing negative influences, exercising and learning about my body had always seemed like too much effort before, but this year I somehow changed my mindset. And I’m really proud of that. Other than that, being in Vogue and few other mags, learning a few lessons about friendship. A few different things.

9: What was your biggest failure?
1) Hardcore letting down a friend. I didn’t realise I was doing it at the time, but when it was pointed out to me, it broke my heart. It definitely helped me make my decision to change my lifestyle. and 2) Failing to find a job was pretty disappointing. But I’ll be rectifying that ASAP. I’m determined, this has gone on far too long.

10: Did you suffer illness or injury?
Mentally. Not so much physically, just got sick the amount I normally do.

11: What was the best thing you bought?
It was probably my camera that my family got me for my 21st! Or my leather Margiela vest.

12: Whose behaviour merited celebration?
I don’t really know how to answer this one. I can think of a few people but I don’t want to single people out and name them, because half of them don’t have Tumblr and I feel weird talking about them.

13: Whose behaviour made you appalled?
Same answer as before. And also, Chris Brown.

14: Where did most of your money go?
Absolute rubbish. Parking fines. Stupid shit. That is not happening on 2013, being more money-conscious is something I really want to focus on this year.

15: What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Fashion Week, I guess. I can’t really think of anything else I was super super excited about.

16: What song will always remind you of 2012?
Anything by Grimes.

17: Compared to this time last year, are you: (a) happier or sadder? (b) thinner or fatter? (c) richer or poorer?
a) sadder, somehow. b) thinner. c) same, still poor.

18: What do you wish you’d done more of?
Read

19: What do you wish you’d done less of?
Depressed days in bed.

20: How did you spend Christmas?
At my house, drunk on Moet, willing my family not to start a fight about immigrants/gun laws etc.

21: Did you fall in love in 2012?
Nope.

22: What was your favourite TV program?
Probably Parks & Recreation, 30 Rock and The Office.

23: Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
I don’t hate anyone. But yes, in the past year I have learned that a handful of people aren’t quite the people they make out to be. I don’t hate them for it, I just would love to send them to strength to see their lies, like I did. Its tough, but worth it in the long run. You feel more at ease in everyday life once you realise and accept that you aren’t truly being you.

24: What was the best book you read?
The Art of Happiness in a Troubled World.

25: What was your greatest musical discovery?
That the guy who plays Vyvyan in The Young Ones tours around the world playing gigs that are just folk versions of the best ever punk songs. Amazing.

26: What did you want and get?
Well I guess every model wants to be in Vogue. So that, I guess.

27: What did you want and not get?
Well I was hoping to be signed interstate, which didn’t happen. Which isn’t a massive deal, but that’s the only thing I can think of.

28: What was your favourite film of this year?
The Hobbit.

29: What one thing made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Someone who made my life inexplicably more difficult in previous years, and treated me like dirt, getting their karma.

30: How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2012?
Crazytown bananapants. Mental clashing colours one second, then all black. Bindis and crystals and a fuckload of rings.

31: What kept you sane?
My writing, and Jake Bley. The most stable person I know.

32: Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Amy Poehler.

33: What political issue stirred you the most?
I think the thing that frustrated me the most of the blind virality of KONY 2012, and people’s inability to do a quick Google search before they backed something. That, the recent Conneticut school shooting and the Batman shooting, and the rape/murder of Jill Meagher in Melbourne.

34: Who did you miss?
Many of my friends actually moved from Adelaide. I have seven close friends, and Jake, Catty, Daniel all moved interstate/overseas this year. And another of my friends is moving to Sydney in three weeks. So yep, I spent most of my year pining for my loved ones.

35: Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2012.
Don’t bother planning… Life is chaotic and it doesn’t care what you have planned for yourself! Goals are of course, great things, but to be able to achieve goals you have to be adaptable, be malleble, be okay with change. Fluidity is far more important than your list.
